Moxibustion acupuncturists Markham
What is moxibustion treatment?
The Moxibustion treatment involves burning specific herbs in order to promote healing. The purpose is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of Qi, and maintain general health. Sophie uses different types of moxibustion therapies, including direct moxa and indirect moxa, otherwise known as Kyotoshin.
Direct moxa burns at a relatively low temperature, so it is safe and transmits a pure quality of heat into the acupuncture point.
Direct Moxibustion
The Japanese developed an exclusive moxibustion therapy that involved burning tiny ‘threads’ of moxa directly on acupuncture points without burning or scarring the skin. This technique uses a specially refined moxa that burns at a relatively low temperature, so it is safe and transmits a pure quality of heat into the acupuncture point.

This technique uses a specially refined moxa that burns at a relatively low temperature, so it is safe and transmits a pure quality of heat into the acupuncture point.
During this type of acupuncture, a patient will experience a pleasant heating sensation that penetrates deep into the skin, but should not experience any pain, blistering or scarring.
